Mission
The 85th Center of Air Communications & Informatics assets and exploits the communications, informatics and terrestrial air navigation system necessary for Romanian Air Force Headquarters and Air Operation Center for assuring the National Air Space Integrity and the Cooperation with other National Defense System. In the same time we provide logistic support for IT&C equipments which we operate with.
A short history regarding The 85th Center of Air Communications & Informatics
Occurred near the start of the Second World War as a troop leadership component of the army, the unit was born on 3 October 1938, through the Royal Decree no. 3578, as a regiment and being deployed in the barracks "Great Prince Michael of Alba Iulia" from Cotroceni.
Early 1939 found the unit to full movement. On April 1, 1939 arrives the first contingent of recruits, who will be sworn in on April 2, 1939, when in the Great Hall of the Throne, in a ceremony, King Charles II Flag shows the first unit flag, which will be handed over to its commander, On May 10, 1939.
On August 8, 1939, the unit receives it’s first class of officers with the rank of lieutenant- military school graduates.
On the Aviation Day from 20 July 1942, at Arges, King Michael, decorates the flag with the Combat Aviation medal with swords, Class III-A, for bravery in the East campain.
On November 1st 1942 under Decree - Law no. 2503, the Aero Engineering Regiment and the Aeronautical Engineer Regiment Signal Regiment receives the unit flag.
In early October 1944 follows the withdrawal of the unit in the barracks of Cotroceni, but for less time, because on the 7 October 1944, the Romanian Air Corps will go west, to release the entire country. The Regiment will install successively signal center in Sibiu Turzii, Someşeni Cluj, Satu Mare and Turkene from Hungary. On February 7, 1945 the Romanian Air Corps has installed its command point to Miskolz .
At the Minister of National Defence order No 25 from 1948 the Unit Combat Flag goes to the National Military Museum.
Starting June 10, 1949, under the General Staff order no. 45 894, the unit will be called the 6th Signal Regiment Deva. From May 7, 1951 it became the 161st Aero Signal Regiment \ and was given a new Flag, with patent no. 162 044.
In parallel with concerns to ensure optimal structures corresponding to incoming missions, the unit moved to the execution of combat service, while training for combat activities, quizzes and practical military expert and participating in maneuvers and applications.
On 10 January 1959, under order no. CL002 in 1959 for the Army, the unit changes its name to 85th Signal Regiment, and from MU 04,723 in U.M. 01829.
On 20 October 1969, the unit's battle flag was decorated with the Order of the Star RSR "3rd Class with ribbon.
On 25 July 1984, takes place redeployment phases of the unit in the barracks barracks Otopeni and Bucharest Berceni Baloteşti.
On 17 December 1989, according to orders received, the unit implements the alarm, and as of December 22, 1989, during the establishment of the state of emergency, provided the necessary links CAATs while defending their own devices and performing other tasks.
After the establishment of the Aviation and Air Defense Headquarters, the unit was reorganized on 01 May 1995, under General Order no. 7 February 4, 1995, the Minister of National Defence and on 01 December 1995, under Presidential Decree no. 246 of July 3, 1995, has been fighting the new flag handing over ceremony, 85 Signal Regiment "George Robescu.
Since 09/15/2005, 85 Signal Regiment turns into 85 Battalion Aero Communications and Information Technology, being subordinated to the Air Force Headquarters and since 12/01/2010 into 85th Center of Air Communications and Information Technology.
Currently the entire staff is engaged in a special effort to ensure the functionality of the center of the new structure the necessary links to ensure continuity of management, notification and cooperation of the two echelons which it serves Air Staff, thighs, while improving the specialized training required for entry into equipment new types of advanced equipment and process automation and computerization of the activities.
