| The Romanian Air Force built Cβmpia Turzii airfield between
1952 - 1953, on the purpose of reorganization of the military
aviation and its outfitting with IL-10 aircraft, made in the former
USSR and designed to ground attack. HUMANITARIAN MISSIONS: As a consequence of floods, which affected our country in 2005, helicopter squadrons belonging to the 71st Airbase operated in areas covered with water, by performing: Search and rescue missions of over 200 hard-hit people in awash area, in Timis, Caras-Severin and Mures Counties; Food and clothes transportation. IAR-330 MEDEVAC helicopters also performed: People search and rescue missions with Salvamont (Mountain rescue service) Sibiu; Medical teams and wounded people transportation in collaboration with S.M.U.R.D. Targu-Mures; Joint missions with troops within the Ministry of Defense. |
