| C-130 Hercules
Acquisition Project |
Troops airlift capability increased
through acquisition of one C-130 Hercules aircraft. Latest C-130 H Hercules aircraft was bought
from Italian Air Force on 24th June 2004 with non-reimbursable funds fully covered by the U.S.A.
government and it was so far at the Lockheed Martin Headquarters in Greenville - U.S.A. in order
to cover ample operations of maintenance and modernization of communication and navigation systems.
Modernization brought to the platform parameters (aircraft's resistance structure, motorization,
pneumatic and hydraulic mechanisms) and avionics allow that the aircraft successfully performs missions
assumed, by strictly respecting the war theatre requirements and the rules in force for flying on
international routes. Strategic Airlift capability has proved that Romanian Armed Forces are capable
to self-sustain, to support theatre deployed forces.
