Antonov An-2 airplane, known as
the largest bi-plane transport aircraft, was designed as a multi-purpose
bird. It is in service with the Romanian Air Force for paratroopers'

| AN-24
is a short and medium courier passenger aircraft and it was the
start for the development of a whole family in this class including
AN-26 and AN-30. |
| An-26 |
| AN-26 aircraft is designed as cargo carrier having also air dropping capabilities. It can be easily adapted for passenger
carriage, medical evacuation and paratroopers' training. |
| An-30 |
| The Antonov An-30 is another member of the An-24 family. It was designed as an aerial survey
and photographic airplane, employed e.g. for map-making. The aircraft flew for the first time in 1973. |
In 1951 USAF issued a requirement for the development of a tactical transport aircraft capable of short take-off and
transporting of at least 92 combat- equipped personnel. |
