Antonov An-2

Antonov An-2 transport airplane, known as the world's largest biplane, was designed for serving various purposes. The prototype flew on August 31st, 1947. It was built in Kiev by the mid-60s. Later on it was transferred to Poland, where more than 12000 aircraft were produced. It is estimated that over 15500 aircraft have been built in USSR, Poland and China. Out of these, about 6000 are under civilian operation.
The airplane is used for crops dustspraying in agriculture. Some of them are VIP-equipped (6-8 seats).
Presently An-2 airplane is in service with Romanian Air Force for paratroopers training and other various light transport duties.
An-2 entered the Romanian Air Force service in 1977.
