Major General Niculae TABARCIA
Deputy Chief of the Romanian Air Force Staff

Major General Niculae TABARCIA is Deputy Chief of the Romanian Air Force Staff. As Deputy Chief, he serves as member of the Ministry of National Defence Requirements Oversight Council and the Standardisation and Interoperability Committee.
He assists the Chief of the Romanian Air Force Staff with organizing, training and equipping of 12.000 personnel serving in the Romanian Air Force.
Major General Niculae TABARCIA was born on 18th of November, 1957.
He graduated from the Air Defence Academy in 1979 as a air defence officer. He is an alumnus of National Defence College and holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from the National Defence University.
During his career major General TABARCIA served in various positions within Romanian Air Force and Ministry of National Defence.
Between 1979 and 1984, he was appointed as Platoon Commander, Battery Commander and Instructor at the Air Defence Training Centre. After the graduation of the Command and Staff College in 1986, he was assigned as Air Defence Battalion Commander.
Between 1991 and 2001 he served as Chief of Staff at the 1st Air Defence Brigade.
From 2001 until 2002 Major General TABARCIA was the Commander of the 19th Air Defence Brigade.
In 2002 he was promoted as Chief of Operations at the Air Force Headquarters.
Between 2002 and 2005 he held the position of Commander of the 1st Air Defence Brigade.
Between 2005 and 2007 General TABARCIA was the Chief of the Training and Doctrine Directorate of the General Staff.
From 2007 until 2009 he was appointed as Chief of the Human Resources Management Directorate at the Ministry of National Defence.
Between 2009 and 2011 he served as Director at the General Staff.
Starting with January 2011 he is the Deputy Chief of the Romanian Air Force Staff.

Major General Niculae TABARCIA is married and has one child.

- 1979 – Air Defence Academy, Brasov;
- 1982 – Air Defence Battery Commanders Course, Air Defence Training Centre, Bucharest;
- 1986 – Command and Staff College, National Defence Academy, Bucharest;
- 1993 – Post-graduated Course for Brigade Commanders, National Defence University, Bucharest;
- 2002 – Post-graduated Studies on Strategic Leadership, National Defence College, Bucharest;
- 2003 – Senior Course, NATO Defence College, Rome;
- 2008 – Defence Resources Management Course, Monterrey, USA.

- 1986-1991 – Commander, Air Defence Battalion, 1st SAM Brigade;

- 2001-2002 – Commander, 19th Air Defence Brigade;
- 2002 – Chief of Operations, Air Force Headquarters;
- 2002-2005 – Commander 1st SAM Brigade;
- 2005-2007 – Chief of Training and Doctrine Directorate, General Staff;
- 2007-2009 – Chief of the Human Resources Management Directorate, Ministry of National Defence;
- 2009-2011 – Director, General Staff;
- Since January 2011 – Deputy Chief of the Air Force Staff.

- Order Military Merit, 2nd and 3rd class;

- National Order “For Merit”, Knight grade;
- Honorary Token ‘In Service of the Army’ for 25 years of service;
- National Order “Aeronautical Virtue”, Knight grade with sign for military
